Soccer is one of the most demanding sports in the world. Along with specific skills like dribbling, passing, and shooting, soccer also requires athleticism for sprinting, running, jumping, cutting, body control, and balance.

With the help of experts in athletic performance testing and training, we’ve created a circuit of tests that will give players a better picture of their endurance, speed, power, agility, body control, and balance as compared to their peers. The circuit includes:

  • An endurance run (300 yards, set up as 25 yards x 12)
  • A sprint (30 meters)
  • A standing broad jump
  • A shuttle run (5-10-5 yards, hand on the ground at start and each change of direction).
  • A squat & hurdle movement

Helping us administer these tests is Coach Angel Jenkins, Cincy SC’s High Performance coach. Coach Angel is also going to be working on sharing the results and creating plans for performance improvement for our players.

Each test is designed with a specific soccer demand in mind. The results will allow players to identify strengths and weaknesses and for us to come up with suggestions for how to improve their performance and reduce their risk of injury.

Once we test our players, we’ll then crunch the numbers and share results. Results will be shared privately, with each player able to compare their scores with their anonymous peer group.

Our mission is to provide a positive learning environment for our soccer players.  All of our feedback and the ways that we will be using this information is meant to provide parents, coaches and players with ideas, tools, and resources that will allow each individual to maximize their experience and enjoyment for the game of soccer.
