Don’t you just want to kick it?

Thanks for your patience waiting for an announcement regarding The EPIC Cup and COVID-19. Based on what we heard from the Ohio Department of Health and the City of Oxford in April & May, we decided to move the tournament to June 27-28 for Girls and Boys.

We’re not done yet! We’ve submitted our request for permission to play soccer on June 27-28 and our Safety Plans to the office of Ohio Governor DeWine. We await a response.

If your team cannot play in the event for whatever reason, we will issue you a full refund (or a credit towards next year’s event, if you prefer). The deadline for entering the tourney and for requesting refunds is June 15.

We know that everyone is eager to get back on the field. Please know that the health and safety of everyone involved is and will remain our top priority. That affected our decision making and will remain the top priority during the event.

Our hospitality partner, Stay, Play, Made Simple, has been great about canceling rooms and securing new blocks as our timing has changed. For families that want to book rooms on the June 26-28 weekend, please wait a few days until our website is updated with new hotel options.

For those that may have wondered why we waited to make the decision to move the tournament to June, we chose to wait for these reasons:

  • If we could safely play in May, we wanted to minimize the disruption to your schedules.
  • We didn’t want to move the tournament to June, causing a lot of rework for you, us, and our partners, only to then have to cancel. We are reasonably confident that the June dates will work.
  • Because we were already preparing for the May weekends, we knew there would be enough time after April 16 to prepare for all options.

Thanks again for your patience. Please be well, stay safe, and keep building that friendship with your soccer ball!
